The 2008-2009 Child Care Annual report on the Status of Child Care in CT has just become available on the DSS website. The direct link to the report is: http://www.ct.gov/dss/lib/dss/childcare_annual_report.pdf

Some of the report highlights for state fiscal year 2008-2009 are:
  • 69,589 children received subsidized child care services in Connecticut;
  • 20,720 children and their families received monthly financial assistance from the Care 4 Kids program;
  • 10,149 preschool children participated in the School Readiness Program;
  • 4,336 children, ages 1-12, participated in the State-supported Child Care Center Program;
  • Approximately 8,000 early caregivers participated in the statewide training offered through the Training Program
             in Child Development.
  • The Scholarship Assistance Program (SAP) distributed $829,708 in scholarships benefiting 1,642 early caregivers.
    Its $TART[1] Education Bonus awarded $64,000 to 218 individuals who advanced on the Connecticut Charts-
    A-Course (CCAC) career ladder through training and credential acquisition;
  • The Accreditation Facilitation Project (AFP) assisted 127 sites engaged in the new accreditation system from the National Association fro the Education of Young Children-NAEYC.  As of June 2009, 43 sites were accredited or re-accredited.
